The Elite Mini tends to get more usage because I don't fear carrying it around case-less in my shirt or loose pant pockets. Both the Elite Mini and MB255 have a large/long grip/section area. == Most used lately (past 3 months) : - Pilot Elite Mini - Pilot Petit1 (in the hands of others mostly) == Most used since aquisition (in order of overall guestimated usage): - Montblanc 225 - Pilot Elite Mini - Nemosine Singularity Primarily to address envelopes and packages every month. The main reason I still have it, is because it holds the Goulet 1.5. It's purpose/function could be replaced by the Safari since I have a Lamy 1.9 available, just don't want to put R&K Salix in a Safari. - Monteverde Invincia Deluxe Up until I got the Montblanc and some others. == Currently inked but are seldomly used - Monteverde Invincia Deluxe Nighthawk Still has nearly full converter, hasn't dried out, the tsuki-yo is from a sample vial from March. - Jinhao 159* Large cartridge nearly dried out to 10%, still easily flows though. - Jinhao 599* seldomly used (not even a full page out of it). smooth writer but not a lot of times to use bright orange. converter appears to be dried up to about 15-20% left. - Pilot Metropolitan (Black Crocodile)* Ever since I got the Pilot Elite "Big Cap" and Elite Mini I haven't used either Metropolitans much This one may be de-inked and replaced by the Petit1, since it's purpose as a cheap hand-out pen is accomplished easily by the Petit1, and the Petit1 feels comfortable posted. - Platinum PTL-5000* seldomly used, nice very fine lines with some degree of line variation. I suspect I'm paranoid of damaging the Maki-e artwork to use it often. Converter is still pretty full so it resists drying out very well. - Sheaffer Touchdown Admiral* Hard starter when not used regularly with the ink currently in it. The Montblanc 225 and PTL-5000 isn't quite as fine a line but rather close. - Sheaffer Touchdown Statesman A recent aquisition I restored, not used often, but starts right up. I treat it more delicately than some others, as such probably why I don't carry it around much. *Considering de-inking soon. == Still "feeling out" and evaluating - Desiderata Flex Pen My introduction to both actual 'flex' capability and dip nibs. Not likely to be used for everyday stuff, primarily stay-at-home pen. Can't be Neglected/Left Around inked for too long due to the non-stainless Zebra-G nib. Awaiting spare dip nibs to try out other options. - Lamy Safari (Charcoal) Still kind of getting a feel for it and decided whether to use EF, F or 1.9 nib primarily. If I go with the 1.9, I'll likely de-ink the Singularity with the 1.5 nib. Might be a bag-carry pen with the Petit1 since it's not as delicate as some pens. - Kaweco AL Sport (Raw Aluminum) Seems nice, but I'm going for my Elite Mini more often (nicer grip/section, quicker to uncap). The AL Sport may have a place like the Lamy in terms of being more 'survivable' on the go. Not a big fan of cartridge-only, but I'd syringe fill anyways since most the ink I like isn't avaialble in cartridges. The Petit1 I have least has packs of Blue-Black I like. The other day I took my 60x loupe to it, got it aligned just right for my writing angle then took the micro-mesh and mylar papr to it. It's not extremely silky smooth even on medium weight sketch paper. In fact it has just enough wetness and polish that it has a very slight drag so that it remains smooth but not slippery, but doesn't have the feedback feel at all. It's like an ideal definition of "feedback" where it feels like a very soft graphite pencil without any snag or scratchy feel just very smooth rolling feedback. The line widths also stays consistently the same thru the whole stroke, no shrinking in from the sides like on some 'smooth' nibs. - Parker 51 (Cordovan Brown) I haven't really had much a chance to use it, as I'm awaiting the original seller to replace/fix the diaphragm sac. But my early impressions are that it may feel comparable to the Montblanc 225. It does have a shorter section area than the MB225 or Elite Mini, so time will tell. Holds about as much ink as the MB225 when filling properly. Nib thickness isn't nearly as thin as my MB225 though.
